Hi All, by the time you are reading this, round 2 of this year's championship will have been run and won. Round 2 was hosted by us and it was a bit stressful in the run up to the event due to the severe lack of entries. We recovered some ground to end up with 35 runners. Not enough to break even financially but a decent day nonetheless.
As I outlined last month, we are going to have to re-assess what our ambitions are as a club in regard to the number of events we run. The alternative is to charge entrants what it actually costs for the day and based on 35 entrants, you are talking about an entry fee of $350 per event. I don’t think that is sustainable, so we have some tough decisions to make in the very near future.
Speaking of which, the AGM is this month and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our sitting committee members for their massive effort over the past 12 months. Successful clubs have great volunteers and this club continues to find great people within its ranks. Genuine good people who have the same keen interest in HSV and all things associated.
I for one enjoy being heavily involved in the running of the club, I know I have been doing it for a long time now, but some say too long!! Regardless we always need fresh ideas and that only comes with new people getting involved so please get involved in whatever way you can, you won’t regret it.
Our next event is another run at Carco.com.au Raceway, Wanneroo on Sunday 28th May. When you see the emails arrive, please enter straight away so we know asap how we are looking for numbers.
Results are elsewhere in this bumper edition; you can always access these on the club website.
Hope you enjoy my write-up of our epic Bathurst adventure, hope I didn’t waffle on too long, I could talk about that trip all day.
See you at the track
Cheers
Mike Clynk
