2023 - April - Social
The recent HSVOCWA 4WD day to Ledge was a success! We ended up with 10 4WDs in our convoy, including a single Holden. A lovely v8 Adventurer tagged along with us and made it everywhere the real 4WDs did! Very impressive!

This coming weekend we have our last cruise before winter. This time, it's a cruise to York for a nice lunch and to stretch the legs of the HSVs! Hopefully you can make it. We intend to leave Midland area around 1030am and arrive in York just after 1130. We will try and check out a bit of the surrounds and then head to one of the local establishments for a meal. Please come along if you can! The weather is looking ideal and it should be a nice day out! -

Well just like that, winter is nearly done! This month has been quiet on a social front, but there's a lot happening in the coming weeks.
Firstly, we kick off with the Peter Brock Memorial Cruise on the 9th of September. This will be a fun cruise around the hills area, including a stop off at the Brock Memorial.

Happy July! Later this week we are hosting our first Cars and Burgers at RoyAL's Burgers in Wembley. If you haven't registered yet, you can through the events section of the webiste and/or on the Facebook event. We hope the weather holds out, it should be a great evening for the whole family. The burgers are pretty good, I did some research a few weeks ago.

2023 - June - Social
Time for the real June update, after the pretend June we had last month, We cancelled the Laser Tag event due to lack of interest, but ran a HSV Cars and Coffee event in Osborne Park at The Inbetween Cafe. It was a successful event with over 30 members showing up and buying plenty of coffees and ham and cheese toasties to keep warm. It actually ended up being a really nice morning weather wise so it was great to see such an excellent turnout. Thank you to everyone who came and to Sam at The Inbetween Cafe for opening up especially for us!

2023 - March - Social
Well, just like that, Summer has come and gone. Not only does it mark the end of the warm weather in Perth, but also, I return to work towards the end of March, after 3 months off caring for my now 1yr old son, whilst my wife went back to work after nearly a year off. It’s been another amazing experience bonding with my son, spending day in, day out with him. But now we have to adjust to the new normal of having 2 kids at school and 1 kid jumping between home, daycare and grandparents.
By the time you’re reading this magazine, we’ll have had our display at the Perth Classic Car Show at Ascot. Hopefully it was successful. Once again, I thank all those who volunteered to put their cars on show, and also brought additional cars, either with family/friends or just multiple vehicles of their own. Without this sort of effort, our club can’t represent at these kinds of events.
Coming up in April we have another Cool Cars and Coffee event on the 16th and the 4WD Adventure Day to Ledge Point on the 22nd. Please support both events, where you can!
In May we will have our King of Cruises event, which should see a nice cruise around the city. These sorts of events are important for our club. It’s a rolling advertisement and it allows us to be visible in the community. Quite often, during or after a cruise, I get messages from other people within the car scene asking if “I was on that HSV cruise that went up the coast, or something similar” and usually it’s followed up with how cool it looked seeing a big group of HSV’s cruising together.
In June we have a Laser Tag event, which will be held at Darklight in Joondalup. This will be an afternoon/evening event, and family friendly (10yr old kids and older probably) It’s a heap of fun, so please register to come along when you see the info for this event sent out via email and our Facebook page.
Personally, I sold my VF SSV wagon just before Christmas last year, and whilst it was sad to see it go, it meant I could get into another 4WD, which is something I have wanted to get back into since I sold my 100 series Landcruiser back in 2018. I recently purchased an import 1994 Toyota Hilux Surf. It’s in very good condition but I will make it better over the coming years. It’s a vehicle I have always wanted, since I was a teenager, so it’s nice to tick off another item on the bucket list! Plans are for some camping trips with family and friends as well as some 4WDing adventures with the kids.
As far as the VX goes, nothing has really changed. I am trying to get some damage caused by a workshop sorted and then I am just driving it and enjoying it. Amazing how fast the VX feels when your daily is a 29yr old 3L Turbo Diesel!

2023 - May - Social
Well, end of financial year is here, and what usually is personally the busiest part of the year for my family, with a large number of family members birthdays during July, kicked off by my wife and my wedding anniversary on the 30th of June! Although, given the last few months we’ve had, I am unsure if it can actually get any busier for us, but I’ll strap in and find out!
By the time you read this, we will have either had, or not had the Laser Tag in June. I will leave the write up for that for the next mag! -
2023 - September- Social
Well, it’s been a busy few days. As I write this quarterly report, we’re coming off the back of a long weekend of events for the Club and a big weekend of motorsport for some competitors from the club.
Since our last issue (in May/June) we’ve held 5 events. Cars and Coffee in Osborne Park in mid June, the Cars and Burgers event at RoyAL’s Chicken & Burger in Wembley, and then 3 days of events in September, the Targa Events Show N Shine on Friday night, followed by the Annual Peter Brock Memorial Cruise on Saturday morning, then a day in the sunshine on Langley Park for the Celebration of Motorsport.
